Song of Solomon 2:5
"Sustain me with raisin cakes, Refresh me with apples, Because I am lovesick.
I hung out with my friend Dennis on a Saturday before the NFL season got underway. He had a Houston Texans party at his house. I got to meet a variety of his friends then.
After all the football stuff was over, he announced to us who remained behind that he would be heading over to a club in Baytown called The Chute to meet up with classmates from his graduation year. I tagged along.I enjoy spending time with my special friend. We know each other in a good way. I was his manager at the Little Caesars pizza restaurant on Woodforest off of the beltway back then.
We went to a house after the club closed. A very nice house with a great swimming pool and hot tub in the backyard. I took the opportunity to talk to a woman that was soaking in the hot tub.
I was enjoying our conversation when her classmate came over to interfere. I guess she figured I was some kind of threat. It is then that I told them that I was a graduate of Channelview High School as well. I revealed that I was fond of a girl that played basketball back in that time.
I also told them that I had asked that girl to attend the Senior Prom with me. She was not allowed to because she had told her family that I was Mexican. Which I am not...I am Italian-American...which she did not know. (Should that even matter?)
The defending friend wanted to know Janette's last name. Looky here, I ain't gotta prove myself to nobody. That first name alone is enough...after all, how many Janettes played both volleyball and basketball in my senior year of 1982?
Due to too many mosquitoes, I chose to go inside the house. Good for me. Wasting time is something I abhor.
I am the last man a woman needs to feel defensive towards. I was raised properly by my Momma. Liz Knipe can attest to that fact.
