Mark 15:22 - They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means "the place of the skull").
Jesus Christ was put to death on a cross at Golgotha. There is great significance in this place. Centuries earlier King David had defeated a great and imposing enemy of Israel. The Son of David would ultimately defeat the greatest enemy of his nation.
Goliath was a Philistine soldier - literally a one man army. He was a giant and very powerful. Yet, a small young teenaged boy would bring him down. David was filled with faith and loved the LORD.
After killing Goliath in hand to hand combat, he cut off his head. He buried the head at Golgotha. The very place where Jesus Christ would die for us...for our SALVATION.
1 Samuel 17:54 - David took the Philistine’s head and brought it to Jerusalem; he put the Philistine’s weapons in his own tent.
Jesus Christ defeated Satan by giving His life as the ultimate sin offering for all mankind. Christ became our sacrifice to appease the Father so that we can be redeemed. This was the plan of the LORD and it pleases Him.
John 10:17 - The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life--only to take it up again.
The place of the skull - Golgotha. The place where David placed the head of Goliath. The place where Jesus Christ defeated the greatest enemy of all mankind.
This is why Easter is so very special. We are SAVED. Amen.
