Proverbs 31:25-31
Strength and dignity are her clothing
and she laughs at the time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom,
and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
She looks well to the ways of her household,
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women have done excellently,
but you surpass them all.”
Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands,
and let her works praise her in the gates.
She had a smile like the glorious sun,
her heart was pure as precious gold,
she loved being alive in the world,
it was her life and very soul,
and I tried to make her proud.
Living in this crazy world,
really tests your body and soul,
she was always so hopeful,
she never stopped believing in her dreams.
This is a poem for Mary Jane,
a woman who was so real,
she was strong and so loving,
she was my dear sweet mom.
She grew up poor in a little town,
helping her mom to raise a family,
her daddy died when she was young,
but they stayed strong and survived.
She finished school at an early age,
she went to college for a little while,
she married a young man who would not leave her alone,
she left what could have been a better life.
This is a poem for Mary Jane,
a woman who was so real,
she was strong and so beautiful,
I really miss her now that she is gone.
She traveled and cared for her family,
the husband she loved was doing her wrong,
she prayed for a way to the light,
she never gave up on the Holy One.
The years flew by and she remarried,
more trouble came along,
you just cannot win in this crazy world,
there are so many twists and turns.
This is a poem for Mary Jane,
a woman who was so real,
she was strong and so faithful,
she taught me to open up my heart.
She slowly became very ill,
she fought with all her mind and soul,
but in the end she was overcome,
but she was not defeated or compromised,
and I am still living in honor of her.
This is a poem for Mary Jane,
a woman who was so real,
she loved to read and laugh and dance and sing,
she was an inspiration to me.
Lift up your hearts and do not waver,
that was simply not her way,
you have to be strong and have faith,
it is the only way.
This is a poem for Mary Jane,
Janie's daughter and saving grace,
she never truly hated a living soul,
she taught me to always have faith.
