John 13:34-35 - “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
I met a man in his early 40s today. He is starting over in his life and working hard to prove his worth. He used to be in telecommunications but was laid off from his job. He worked independently with his father for awhile but that too came to an end.
He told me about his life. Where he's been. Where he's worshiped. Where he has worked. He talked and I listened. This is the second experience like this in the last two weeks. I have met some spiritually strong people who are telling me about life.
Only...they lack a church home or are not convinced theirs is right. I did my best to be a friend to each of them. Last week I introduced the other to one of my friends to talk to. They got along very well. Today, I was able to manage talking to this man with no problem. We even blessed each other in God's name as he parted.
Kindness is being open to others and giving them what they need. In this case it was just someone they felt they could open up to. We all get to that point in life at one time or another. It feels good to be kind.
Amen.
