Almost a decade ago, I was in prayer. I was standing, eyes closed and being passionate. I felt a touch on my tongue.
I was stunned and surprised by this. I opened my eyes and looked around. I was home alone in my second apartment after separating from my now ex-wife.
I was also working out and studying The Holy Bible during this time. Soon, I discovered the verses that are featured in today's Vigil for Saint John the Baptist, in my church:
Jeremiah 1:9
Then the LORD extended his hand and touched my mouth, saying to me,
See, I place my words in your mouth!
The LORD did not give me a heads up on what HE was about to do to me. Touching on my tongue startled me. For a little while I had no idea of the significance of this...until I read The Book of Jeremiah.
This biblical accounting between the young Jeremiah and God takes places in the first chapter. It sets a tone for what the life of his servant would be like. In this book we find lessons of life and endurance.
I know that when I share about God, HE is prompting me. HE influences me. It is HE that guides me.
This is no different than how HE does that for any of HIS children. HE does this for us all. Through HIS Holy Spirit, which we receive the very moment that we faithfully believe in Lord Jesus Christ, HIS Son.
