Amos 7:7
This is what He showed me: Behold, the Lord was standing by a wall true to plumb, with a plumb line in His hand.
I learned what a plumb line was from my Daddy before I read it in the Bible. He built a deck for Momma on the backside of our house. It was big and no little chore. He drew saw lines with a metallic boxy tool that had string and dyed powder in it.
He drew lines with the string and plucked it to leave a true line for him to work with to build that deck on the backside of our home in Cut and Shoot, Texas. I only did one thing to aid him in this effort. I supplied him with a glass of ice water.
He called out to me,"Ricky!" I came. He said,"Get me a glass of ice water."
So I ran inside and filled a glass with ice and filled it with our well water. I delivered it to him and he took it into his hands. He drank.
He swallowed it down and humbly said,"Thank you, son."
I kicked in to assist him a bit from that point on. He finished it all. It was magnificent.
Unto now, this remains a powerful memory of my Daddy to me. He was usually commanding and impatient with me. In that moment, he was unusually kind and different towards me.
