John 4:24 - For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.
I read 2 Samuel after waking up this morning. In it, King David thinks of building a home for the ark of the covenant, which was hosted in the tent of the tabernacle. This tent and all things in it were designed and relayed to Moses after the people of Israel were brought out of Egypt.
The Lord says to David that it was not his complaint about not having a house of cedar to dwell in. He said that wherever the people journeyed He was always with them. It is this kind of relationship we should seek.
Ephesians 2:19-22 -- Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
We are the holy temples of the Lord, who is Spirit. Jesus Christ is truly the dwelling place of the Father. Even then, Jesus said:
Luke 9:58 - Jesus replied, "Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
