I had a good conversation with my co-worker today. We talked about our faith. I told him that I admire how he is still with his wife now at age 36 - they met when he was 16. They started a family then, too.
Since then, he has accumulated a degree in Criminal Justice and continued to grow as a man. He has held good jobs and has three grandchildren back in Illinois where his oldest daughter lives. He was talking about discerning whether we truly hear the voice of the Spirit, or not. He has also been struggling in his financial and spiritual life. I gave him insight on this over the past few days. Today, the Lord helped me put it all together for him as-well-as me.
I posted my 'big gun' testimony last night - The Voice Within. In that story, I reveal that I have been hearing the voice of the Lord since I was 17. I know His voice, and at 49 I know Him scripturally and faithfully. I shared that with him today. We concluded that the only reason we doubt his voice is because we have gone away from Him for awhile.
I also told him I have been hearing a recurring message about God providing for us. On 'The Sermon on The Mount,' Jesus teaches to first seek the righteousness of God before we will receive what we need in this world (Mathew 6:33). This struck him as 'deep' revelation. I am glad it gave him somewhere to focus. It is in time of struggle that we can over-worry. We need to trust the Lord in all times and all things.
I am at peace now. It took a lot of reflection, prayer, sermons and faith to get that peace - but it is here. Now, God can use me, bless me or whatever else He sees fit to do with me. I am happy and I have joy because JESUS CHRIST IS LORD.
Amen.
