I come from a generation born in the early 1960s. We have all had our childhoods, teen years and young adult years pass us by. My poem, Classmates, describes the journey of which I am writing now. In it I mention that some of us struggle and falter. It is the way life deals its cards and there is no guarantee it won't bend or break us.
Most of us fulfilled the statistic of divorce amongst those who marry young. For a myriad of reaons this rings true...it finally caught me last. year. So, even I am a number in the accounting of failed matrimony. I really wish everyone could have made wise and good choices leading up to this point in our lves.
In my poem I said we get up and dust ourselves off and continue in the journey of life. The best way for this to be done is to fellowship in our Christian love. To recite the helpful verses and share the words of our Lord in an effort to inspire us onward. We must support each other and lend our hand in bolstering our friends and fellow Christians.
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. - John 15:13
To use those words as a guide for our purpose in loving support is a variation of the verse. We die and live by the Lord Jesus Christ who we accept as savior. It is our duty to love one another. We are a loving and living testimony to our Risen Lord.
Hopefully, we have lived to learn valuable lessons leading up to this point in our lives. Wash yourselves in the blood of the Lamb of God and be made new. What are we focused on for the next twenty to forty years that we are embarking on now? Have you done well up to this point? Have you broken even up to this point? Have you crawled and scratched your way to this point?
Are you going to be strong , faithful and confident for the rest of our earthly journey? If you have struggled, are you now wise and knowledgeable to live in a way that is pleasing to our LORD. Will you now make an effort to choose to be in the Light of the LORD? Have you learned that by doing so, God will love you and make your path clear? Go ahead test him on this:
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. - Malachi 3:10
Do you have needs at this point? Do you need prayers to be answered? Jesus says to ask him and he will do it to honor his Father. We are fully equipped to make the completion of our life's journey:
You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. - John 14:14
Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you again and supply what is lacking in your faith. - 1 Thessalonians 3:10
I pray that you will finish strong and victorious in the Lord's ways. I hope you will be a fine example for your loved ones to use as a guide for themselves. In the not-so-distant future, your grandchildren will be at this same point in their lives. It is the way of life - it never stops...it keeps going.
So, no more folly! No more recklessness! Live the next two to four decades in the Christian way and enjoy the direction of the Holy Spirit. If you have done so up to this point, I am happy for you. If you need to make adjustments to accomplish this, I support you.
Blessings to all of you.
