I mentioned during the week that I was referencing scriptures from Old and New Testaments that flowed - like all of the Bible does. So, what was I reading and why? I guess it goes back to this past Sunday and the fact that heavy rains caused me to miss my first worship in church since July 5, 2009. I was supposed to serve as Sacristan (organizer of the Eucharist).
In The Book of Genesis, chapters 13 and 14, Abraham and Lot go their separate ways due to a disagreement. Abraham is a peaceful man and Lot is angry. Lot has an earthly focus and not a godly one. Lot is made a prisoner due to the union of a group of kings and their determination to conquer, of which Lot could not have foreseen. Abraham and his allies fight the armies of the kings and are victorious. Lot is rescued in the process.
The king of Salem comes to meet with Abraham to celebrate a covenant that God had revealed to him. He shares bread and wine with Abraham - Eucharist. They then meet and Abraham gives ten percent of his gained treasure to Melchizedek.
Psalm 110:4
4 The LORD has sworn
and will not change his mind:
“You are a priest forever,
in the order of Melchizedek.”
The Book of Hebrews explains an astounding account of how Jesus is placed as our High Priest - eternally. I needed to read this again to reinforce what I already have read, but needed to review again. The purpose was to stay motivated as an inspired believer and worshiper.
Read along and listen to the link provided by Max McLean. Blessings to you. Amen.
