Today I realized very clearly that I have been single for eight years now. This after having been connected and married to a woman for a total of twenty-eight years. DivorceCare taught me that for every five years of marriage, we need to be single for one. So round it off and my number turned out to be six years.
I did not think I would last six years, much less eight years. Now I wonder how many more years this will continue. I am not exactly trying to force the issue; I don't want to blunder any more of my earthly life years away.
I have heard so many opinions from various people over this time period. The best ones come from the Lord and those who truly follow His path. You can tell the difference because we don't think as the world does.
Today is the first day of a new year but we need that mentality of newness every day and not just once a year. Every day we must allow ourselves to be thankful and love our Lord for blessing us with it. He is in command of our eternity but the daily life we see with our eyes can deceive us about that truth.
I am glad for every new day, for each day is just that. I am glad that I am a child of God in Lord Jesus Christ. Why?
When we believe in the Messiah and ask in prayers for the things we need it pleases our Father in heaven:
John 14:5-14
Thomas said to him, “Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you know me, then you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” Philip said to him, “Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you for so long a time and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me is doing his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else, believe because of the works themselves. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father. And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.
