Isaiah 57:13
When you cry out for help, let your collection of idols save you! The wind will carry all of them off, a mere breath will blow them away. But whoever takes refuge in me will inherit the land and possess my holy mountain.
I personally feel that if we take our eyes off of our Lord for one day, we suffer more than we have to. Enjoy outings, dinners, parties and life...but remember the Lord each morning and evening. Keep Him in your heart and mind as you live your day out.
Why do I say this? I diminished my focus on God when my Daddy was killed nearly 20 years ago. I was limping along in life.
Then when Momma died over 11 years ago I fell into a personal abyss. I was rocked by her death to a point of numbness to life. I saw my wife and children as my last possible source of love and companionship.
I have been divorced for nearly six years now and apart from my now ex-wife for nearly seven years. Only my youngest child keeps in touch with me. My older two are either busy with life or holding a personal grievance against me.
This is how I now know not to take my eyes off of God. Life still brings pains and hurts...but the Lord helps me through every one of them. That is the difference that He makes for all of His children.
