I have been reflecting on how my Momma would forgive people for wronging her. This included her mom, siblings, Daddy, my sisters, me and all others. She was extraordinary in this matter.
Christ Jesus taught us to forgive and love one another. Momma took that teaching to heart. She exuded it.
Matthew 6:14
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
Momma received blows of various kinds, cried and agonized...resolved it in prayer and bounced back. Every time. Only by her physical example do I have a life experienced gauge in which to measure how to forgive.
I met and talked with my eldest sister's two older sons for a lunch yesterday. I discussed this with them.
It is a key to the kingdom of God in the eternal life to forgive. It is hard to do at times. The thing is...we release anger and bad feelings and are able to focus on the things that matter.
Romans 12:19
Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.
God will eternally judge all sin and that is why it is important for us to forgive and keep walking in our faith. I forgave the man that took my Daddy's life the very day it took place. I pray for that sinner often.
Forgiving is something all of us need to hone in on. We need to pray for others. In time, Christ will come and reap the harvest. We must be ready.
John 4:35
Don't you have a saying, 'It's still four months until harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.
