Matthew 25:40 - "The King will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'
Faith must be carried out. It is not something we can learn of and cling to privately. This does not mean that we have to stand on street corners shouting out bible passages to passers by. It means that we are responsible to love and express goodness to those who are around us.
We see with our eyes those who are in need. We hear them asking for help. If we can, we should. We should help others and take time to talk to them a little bit. Rich or poor, we are the children of God.
Our earthly days are numbered. Therefore it is not wise to say,"One day I will help. One day I will be generous. One day I will give." It is important to know that we need to give as necessary to those around us.
Some of us do this. Some of us don't. Whether we do or not, we are aware of how important to give someone a little peace. That is a gift to them...a blessing.
My Momma was not the kind to hand out money to a panderer. She looked them squarely in the eyes and said,"I will gladly buy you some food. I will not give you money so that you can go and buy alcohol." Then, she would buy them something to eat if they asked.
My Daddy was not as particular. He gave money, food, clothes and other things to people. He was adamant about being generous. Momma always gave him a hard time for it.
The important thing is to give, whether it be with scrutiny or generosity. We must know when to do this. It is vital to our Christian faith.
Amen.
