Today, Christopher and I went to celebrate Columbus Day. We went to one of our favorite restaurants and enjoyed the Sunday brunch...my treat. We stopped for some genoa and hard salami, fresh mozzarella and a loaf of Italian bread. Our plan was to return to my apartment and have a light snack of these items with a nice red wine he bought.
I have been sharing a new story the past couple of days called 'Superstitions.' I refer to ravens in it, and I use scripture describing how the Lord had ravens take food to a prophet who had fled an angry people. Christopher's wine was from a California winery that has the label of RAVENS WOOD.
You should have seen the stunned look on my face as I read the label. If you recall, or were paying attention, I missed my first Sunday worship today due to heavy rains. I could not possibly ride my bike to church this morning. It has been raining all day.
Chris and I had a great day. We talked and laughed and acknowledged how good God has been to us. Then we broke bread and drank wine - we had a Eucharist at home. Reminiscent of Abraham and Melchizedek and of The Last Supper. Personal and faithful.
Philippians 4:6,7 - “Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
Thank you, Lord, for this day. Amen.
