We had sniffles, freckles, buzz cuts, pony tails and missing teeth
we were short, tall, chubby and thin
we wore plaid, sneakers, penny loafers, skirts and jeans
we were the young who were headed into life's journey
As the years passed and we changed
our talents and traits began to take shape
slowly we became young men and women
we still liked soda and candy but not as much
We became musical, artistic, athletic, popular, handy or smart
slowly we were taking shape for the paths we would pursue
we would pair up and venture forth being happy and free
or we would be loners who couldn't find someone with ease
Our youth passed us by and it happened so quick
we either worked, continued school, stayed single or married
now we could really see our lives transforming away
by the time of our ten year reunion a lot had taken place
Some were happy and some were not
but for the night we could smile and share some laughs
we again would go our separate ways and continue to change
that's the thing about life...it doesn't stop...it keeps going
More work and a whole lot of everything else
babies, birthdays, anniversaries, divorces, illnesses and deaths
so much happening to us all as we grew and made choices
so fast and not slowing down and even running us into the ground
We get up and dust ourselves off
we focus and train our thoughts on what else to try
some of us succeed and some of us fail
we're still classmates of yesteryear and some are still friends
We're heading up a mountain and some may falter
we're all on the same course whether it be easy or tough
in the end we will all gather up and meet once again
we'll embrace and celebrate and walk hand in hand
