Be still. We are told to be still and be quiet, so that something can take place in our lives. Once a week, God wants us to stop all of our activity and rest. Our daily life requires constant commotion all over the world. There are places to go and things to do in our daily lives. We get consumed by the repetitive routine of going from one place to another and lose our focus that is supposed to be on the Lord.
For one day we are supposed to be worshipful and adoring to God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and all things of our Lord. We are supposed to rest and enjoy being his creation…that he made in his image and for a personal relationship with us – individually. We are to pray, read our bible, sing and love for one day that is his day of holiness. We are his children and are supposed to acknowledge his wisdom and knowledge and seek his ways on this one day called the Sabbath, which is the day of rest.
Psalm 46:10 - "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."
Zephaniah 3:17 - The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."
Regardless of the measure of your worth, we are supposed to know that one day a week is for rest. One day a week is for worship. One day a week is to get focused and sharpen our faith and love the Lord. We are supposed to love the Lord every day, but this is the day he made just for that purpose. He is the Most High God and our Heavenly King.
Mark 12:30 - Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
I have a daily faith that acknowledges the Lord throughout my week. But, the Sabbath is very special because it is the day I go to the house of the Lord. I gather with my brothers and sisters and pray, read and hear scripture, sing and love. We assemble and marvel at the greatness of the Lord who made Heaven and earth…who made all life…who made all things. In focusing on Him, we know that there is no power greater than God’s. He alone is the Holy One and he alone is the Lord.
Revelation 15:4 - Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.
May the Lord always be with you.
Amen.
