BROKEN
by Ricky Doc Sauceda
Psalm 147:3
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Seven years ago today, my relationship and marriage of 28 years ended. We began moving away from our 3 bedroom home to separate ones. My two sons moved in together with a friend of my oldest son. My daughter would begin living like a nomad; staying with different friends for a while.
My daughter and youngest son would eventually move in with me. I had changed a lot from the man they were familiar with. I was exercising, studying my Christian faith and praying every day.
They eventually moved onto lives of their own, being that they were all adults. My firstborn and oldest child Ricky Jr will be 33 this year. His sister will be 32. My youngest child will be 26.
Today I met up with my ex-wife at my son's home; she was there to pick up a piece of exercise equipment. She helped to box up kitchen items with our daughter-in-law. Her boyfriend was with her to assist with the exercise machine.
Seven years have passed so quickly. It is hard seeing my ex-wife continue to be with other men. But, at least we have the capability of being kind with words to one another now.
God be with and lovingly bless those who have broken homes. Amen.
