I had noticed scripture that stood out 'loud' to me as of late. I have been meaning to share this with you for a few days. Tonight, I shared it with my CCE class at my church. I was overwhelmed by the awareness of the significance about the life in blood.
In Genesis, Cain kills Abel and the Lord heard of the unjust act from the blood.
Genesis 4:10-12 -- The LORD said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.”
I mentioned some verses over the weekend about what took place as Jesus Christ died on the cross:
Matthew 27:50-54 -- And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.
At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people.
When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”
Jesus' blood cried out to The Father as he died on the cross. That is why this event took place. God allowed His one and only Son to be sacrificed for us. It means something to me. It means something to other brothers and sisters in the Spirit.
Amen.
