I had to cut an old friend loose yesterday. She is very troubled and has been consistent with doubt, fear and confusion. The Christian faith teaches us to rely on the Lord for all things. We are told to keep praying and stay faithful.
Matthew 18:7
"Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!
We are taught that we are made new by our Lord Jesus Christ. We can come from all sorts of sin and He will take us and restore us...renew us...save us. This is His promise.
John 3:3
In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."
Colossians 1:17
He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
My friend wanted to pick bones about Ecclesiastes with me. I once took a test to see which book of the bible that I reflect. It was The Book of Ecclesiastes. If you read it and go over what I have written, you will see that this is a fair comparison.
Only, unlike Solomon, I don't have the dreariness to cling to dark thoughts and mire in regret. I look to Jesus Christ to pick me up and set me right - to give me alignment. This is a lifelong task for us...to trust in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 1:8
He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
It is what we must make our main FOCUS. The reason is that only the Lord will endure through all things. Everything else comes apart with age.
Not so with the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
